Soft 3 Plait Loping Hackamore #HV40
$194.99 – $299.99
Description: This Soft 3 Plait Loping Hackamore has a flat noseband. Its made of tan 5/16 inch nylon solid braid rope. At 5 inches in width between the cheeks this hackamore is 10 inches in length from top to bottom. If you need a larger or smaller hackamore please give me a call at 817-312-5305 and I’ll make the size you need. Click here to visit my blog to see how to measure your horse for a hackamore. This hackamore comes with a browband headstall, fiador and with your choice of hackamore rein (see below).
Rein choice: You can see the rein choices in the hackamore rein category and choose your rein in the dropdown. The rein you choose will be tied to the hackamore before I send it.
How it works: This hackamore is really comfortable for the horse. It lays flat on the nose and is very soft. It can be used for everything from trail or pleasure riding to warming up in the show pen. This is also a great tool for horses that are tense or stressed. The soft noseband really allows a horse to relax. This hackamore is the mildest of all the hackamores I make and gives slightly less signal than the #HV41 Soft 4 Plait Loping Hackamore.
Shown with the #CHR3 Hand Braided Nylon Hackamore Rein. Price with this rein is $279.99.
Round Hackamore with Rawhide Nose #HV60
Description: The noseband on this Round Hackamore with Rawhide Nose #HV60 is made of a single piece of nylon rope covered with hand braided rawhide. The noseband is available in 2 diameters: 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch (see dropdown to order). The headstall is made of 5/8 inch latigo with a 1/2 inch bled browband and has a nylon fiador. The hand braided ring knots on the noseband keep the headstall from slipping.
Rein choice: This hackamore is available with any rein in the hackamore rein category (order in dropdown). The rein you choose will be tied to the hackamore before I send it.
How it works: The round shape of the noseband allows for an instant and a very consistent signal anywhere on the face. The noseband comes in 2 sizes; 21 inches in circumference for close contact and very quick action and 23 inches in circumference to decrease the speed of the signal very slightly (see dropdown). This hackamore puts more pressure on the nose than the #61 Round Single Rope Hackamore because of the rawhide braid. The latigo headstall is lighter than a harness leather headstall allowing for faster communication than harness leather. This hackamore is made to be a training hackamore rather than for starting colts.
Hackamore is shown with the #CHR6 Round Nylon Hackamore Rein. Price with this rein is $254.99.
Description: The noseband on the Sidepull #CP38 is made of 3/8 inch firm nylon rope specially designed to lay correctly from the first ride. The headstall is made of single ply, 3/4 inch, dense, tight-fibered harness leather and has a 5/8 inch throat latch. The leather has been edged, hand-rubbed, oiled with Neatsfoot Oil and hand-rubbed again. The buckles and rings are all stainless steel.
Reins: The Sidepull is available with or without reins. The 3 most popular choices used with my Sidepull are the #ASR6 DM Harness Leather Split Reins, #BLL6 Latigo on Latigo 3/4″ Reins (shown) and the #ASR3 XX Harness Leather Split Reins. The #ASR6 and #BLL6 are both shorter reins, 6 1/2 to 7 feet, and will work well on the smaller colt or horse. At 7 to 7 1/2 feet, the #ASR3 is a good choice for the bigger colt or horse (generally 15 to 16 hands). Choose between these 3 reins in the dropdown. Many of the other reins I make can be used on this Sidepull. If you don’t see what you need here visit the rein category to purchase your choice of reins separately.
How it works: Sidepulls are a good piece of equipment to use for starting colts. Using a sidepull is a nice way to teach young horses to move through turns with their noses first without putting any pressure on their delicate mouths. Once the colt is turning well with direct pressure from the sidepull a trainer will move to the snaffle, hackamore or bosal.
Sidepull is shown with the #BLL6 Latigo on Latigo 3/4 inch Snaffle Bit Reins. With this rein the price is $302.99.
Bosal 1 Inch #HU4
Description & choices:
Bosal size: This 1 Inch Bosal is handmade with a very soft braid on braid nylon core making it easy on the jaws of a horse and a particularly good bosal for starting colts. The nose button is made of hand braided rawhide and is 7 inches in length. At 5 inches in width between the hanger buttons this bosal is 11 inches long from top to bottom. This bosal will fit a medium size muzzle and will fit the majority of horses.
Heel knot: The heel knots on all Dennis Moreland Bosals are heavy to give instant release when the pressure on the mecate is released. This bosal has a spacer inside the heel knot, between the cores, which gives the mecate space to lay correctly. This is a very nice improvement over bosals with no spacer.
Hanger/Headstalls: This bosal comes with a handmade 3/8 inch Latigo California Style Hanger. You may also order this bosal with a handmade 1/2 inch Latigo Headstall with Browband and Fiador or a 3/4 inch handmade Harness Leather Headstall with Browband and Fiador (see dropdown). The hanger and the headstalls are hand edged, rubbed, waxed (latigo) or oiled with Neatsfoot Oil and waxed (harness leather). The fiadors are made of 1/4 inch tan solid braid nylon rope.
Mecates: You may buy the bosal without a mecate for no additional charge or with one of 3 mecate options; the #DMR5 Nylon Mecate, or the #DK3 or #DK5 Mane Hair Mecates (see dropdown for choices and prices):
#DMR5 Mecate: The #DMR5 mecate is made of round 5/8 inch brown braid on braid nylon rope. It has a tassel at one end and a 5/8 inch leather popper at the other end. It is available in 22 and 24 foot lengths. On average, the 22 foot mecate is built to ride on horses that are under 15 hands while the 24 foot length is built for horses 15 hands and taller. For more info click #DMR5 Round 5/8 inch Nylon Mecate.
#DK3 and #DK5 Mecates: These Mecates are made of six strands of horse mane-hair. They have been firmly twisted by hand on a horse hair core to 1/2 inch (#DK3) or 5/8 inch (#DK5). They will meet the requirements of refined feel for even the most discriminating reinsman. Either mecate is 22 feet long. There are various colors available including sorrels, greys, blacks and whites. Please call for color availability 817-312-5305. If I don’t hear from you I will choose the color. Chuck Frasier Sidepull #CP40
Description: The noseband on this sidepull is crafted from firm 3/8″ nylon rope, which is specially designed to ensure it lays correctly from the first ride. The headstall is made of single ply 3/4″ tight-fibered harness leather with a 5/8″ throat latch. This sidepull comes with slot conchos, which are the safest and most secure conchos I make. You can see the photos on the left for instructions on slot concho removal and application. The buckles are stainless steel with the leather below the buckles stitched to keep them in place.
How it works:
Since this sidepull is considered a bitless bridle, it is designed for use on the adult horse and is a great tool for when you don’t want to put pressure on the horse’s mouth while maintaining plenty of control. With the design of this sidepull, the stainless steel shanks come against the opposite side of the horses face with a direct rein pull so the horse starts his turns without leaning. Put your leg on him once the turn is started to teach him to complete the turn without leaning.
The noseband in combination with the dog chain curb provides a strong signal to stop.
