Double Off Latigo #DO1
Description: I make my Double Off Latigos just the right thickness to be very strong but not leave a lump under your fender. They are available in two sizes: 1 3/4 inches wide by 4 1/2 feet long and 2 inches wide by 6 1/2 feet long. Both of these widths will fit well on any of my cinchas, it’s your personal preference and size of your horse that determine which to buy. Ranch cowboys have told me they prefer the wider, longer double-off.
Call Dennis when ordering (817)-312-5305 if you prefer an extra thin double off.
See my Tack Talk Article The Double Off Billet for more information on double off latigos.
Basket Stamped Pull-Through Spur Straps #SS7
Description: If you want a top-of-the-line punchy strap, my Basket Stamped Pull-Through Spur Straps are great ones! They are completely handmade of the highest quality skirting leather with stainless steel buckles and meticulous attention to detail. They are cut from the back of the skirting leather side which makes them very durable and flexible. This gives you a real nice fit around your boots. The leather is basket stamped by hand and they are hand edged, hand rubbed, and waxed. The stainless steel buckles are sewn in place and have a hand braided rawhide keeper loop. This spur strap comes in 3 sizes to fit everyone in the family. See dropdown to order.
The inside spur button is covered with a thin leather teardrop so you won’t catch your buttons and trip. This is an important safety factor especially when doing any kind of ground work with your horses, colts or cattle.
Mens: fits men’s boot size 9 and larger
Womens: fits women’s boot size 9 1/2 and smaller
Youth: fits children’s boot size 4 and smaller
These punchy spur straps are great for everyday work, will last for years, and will always look perfect in the cow horse pen. If you order a pair of spurs at the same time I will gladly put the straps on for you.
These make the perfect gift for your cowboy or cowgirl, especially with a pair of silver overlaid spurs.
Long Latigo #L1
Description: I make 2 sizes of Long Latigo: the 1 3/4 inch width is 6 1/2 feet long and the 2 inch width is 7 1/2 feet long (see dropdown). The holes are 2 inches apart. The latigos are made from firm, tight-fibered burgundy latigo leather that has been edged, hand-rubbed, and waxed. These are exceptionally high quality, have great feel, and will give you years of service. I guarantee you will be pleased. Dennis
How it works: This long latigo is made to go around the cinch and saddle dee twice but will not leave a lump under your fender. If you happen to like an extra thin latigo so you can have the ultimate in close contact with your horse, give Dennis a call when ordering (817-312-5305) to have your latigo run through the splitter to thin it. It will also be re-edged and rewaxed before it’s sent to you.
See my Tack Talk article Latigo with the Flow to get more information on latigos.
Latigo Slot Ear Headstall #HS27
Description: This beautiful Latigo Slot Ear Headstall is made of 5/8 inch doubled and stitched burgundy latigo leather. It’s excellent leather and will last for years. I buy this premium latigo because it’s very dense, fine grained leather which makes it strong but flexible. It will feel great against your horse’s face. The roller buckle is beveled stainless steel. The leather beneath the buckle is handsewn together to keep the buckle from slipping. The keeper is made of hand braided rawhide and adds a nice accent to this headstall. If you’re on a budget this high quality handmade headstall will put you at the professional level while staying on budget! It will match any of my doubled and stitched reins.
How it works: The short cheek piece on this headstall keeps the buckle away from the horse’s eye. The slot ear is sized right to fit small and large horses. This is such a nice easy headstall to slip on your horse and be on your way.
Crafting: To make a doubled and stitched latigo headstall I take 2 pieces of burgundy latigo and split them to the correct thicknesses. Next I glue the 2 pieces and carefully cut the desired shapes. Then it’s stitched together and edged, hand-rubbed, treated with Neatsfoot Oil and hand-rubbed again. Doubled and stitched leather is more durable and longer lasting than single ply leather and also has a nice eye-catching appearance. The doubled & stitched items are not thicker than single ply leather so still have that good feel in your hands and on the horse.
The headstall has teardrop bit ends with your choice of slot conchos, tie ends, or conchos (see dropdown).
Cinch Hobble #ZB
Description: This cinch hobble is 10 inches long when it’s folded, 3/4 inch wide and there are 3 adjustment holes. I make my cinch hobbles from biothane because it’s so durable.
How it works: This is a very important piece of tack and should never break. It will last a very long time even when used continuously in wet and dirty conditions. This biothane cinch hobble is the only piece of tack I make from non-natural materials.

To summarize: all spur orders will have 3 numbers: the first is the band, the 2nd is the shank and the 3rd is the rowel. Most spurs are in stock and shipped immediately. In the unusual circumstance that a spur is out of stock, or if you have chosen to have lettering or a brand on your spurs, it will take approximately 6 weeks to make them.
