This hackamore rein is made of round 1/2 inch white nylon rope in the center, where it ties to the hackamore. The remainder of the 16 foot length is handbraided 5 plait nylon over the 1/2 inch center for a heavy rein with a real soft feel in the hands. This is an excellent rein for any hackamore you want to use and it will be the best nylon hackamore rein you’ve ever felt, guaranteed. Dennis

5/8″ 6 Strand Horse Mane-Hair Mecate #DK5
Description: This 5/8 inch mecate, also called a McCarty, is designed for the hackamore reinsman. This mecate has a firm twist on a horsehair core, good body and yet a very soft hand. Let this 6 strand mecate be your ultimate horse hair rope! It’s 22 feet long. I will be happy to tie this mecate to a bosal if you purchase one but you may need to adjust the number of wraps to fit your horse after you receive it. I have various colors available including sorrels, greys, blacks and whites. Please call for color availability 817-312-5305. If I don’t hear from you, I will choose the color.
How it works: Horse mane-hair mecates are widely used in the California-vaquero tradition. A horse responds to the feel of the horse hair on their neck better than to many other materials. The traditional material and patterns also look exceptionally good on our horses. A superior quality professional mecate.
Latigo Tie String #ZC
The quality of your tie strings is so important since they keep your bridles and reins from coming undone. This 1/4 inch x 16 inch latigo tie string is cut, hand edged, rubbed with saddle soap, waxed, and hand rubbed again to give you the highest quality tie string on the market. These tie strings are sold as singles, get a few to keep in the barn and in the trailer for emergencies!
XXX Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR2
Description: These XXX 5/8 inch wide show reins are heavy and at 7 1/2 to 8 feet are long enough to really roll them some slack. This length is ideal for those who show horses in a variety of classes in the curb bit and want the feel that this rein will give. The reins lay nicely off your horse’s neck and shoulder when held in one hand but they’re not too long where they might drag or get stepped on. The tail of these reins won’t interfere with your horse’s natural gait.
Crafting: Heavy harness leather bridle reins are very special to me. Every effort is made to give you the best rein you have ever had. I work closely with the tannery to get only the finest dense, tight fibered leather available. I cut the reins in pairs, hand edge, hand rub, oil and hand rub them again for a great feel before I ship them to you. This tight fibered harness leather will last for years. Please feel free to call 817-312-5305 and we will “talk reins”.

X Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR4
Description: Not everyone likes heavier reins, so I cut these X reins out of a lighter-weight hide. These reins average 7 to 7 1/2 feet in length, 5/8 of an inch wide. The attention to detail is still here, but offered in a lighter-weight version. These are ideal for ranchers who want to ride with a lighter rein than the XX. On a cold winter day, these reins will still be supple if you’re checking cows in the cold.
Crafting: These are cut in pairs from the best hides, hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled and hand rubbed again for a great feel before the reins are shipped to you. This tight fibered harness leather will last for years of hard use. If you have any questions please feel free to call 817-312-5305 and we will “talk reins”.
