Nylon Hackamore Rein #CHR3
Description: The Hand Braided Nylon Hackamore Rein lays real well and its shape and feel on the neck get a real good response from the horse. This hackamore rein is made of round 1/2 inch white nylon rope in the center, where it ties to the hackamore. The remainder of the 16 foot length is handbraided 5 plait nylon over the 1/2 inch center for a heavy rein with a real soft feel in the hands. This is an excellent rein for any hackamore you want to use and it will be the best nylon hackamore rein you’ve ever felt, guaranteed. Dennis
Round 5/8″ Nylon Mecate #DMR5
Description: If you like a little thicker mecate this is a good one. The Round 5/8 Inch Nylon Mecate is available in 22 and 24 foot lengths (see dropdown) and made of round 5/8 inch braid-on-braid brown nylon rope. On average, the 22 foot mecate, also known as a McCarty, is built to ride on horses that are under 15 hands while the 24 foot length is built for horses 15 hands and taller. This mecate has a tassel at one end and 5/8 inch leather popper at the opposite end. A little wider in diameter than the #DMR3 Mecate. This is a great mecate to use on your hackamores and your snaffle bits. It comes in your choice of brown or tri-color.
DM Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR6
Description: I recommend these reins if you are riding colts or other small horses. These heavy harness leather reins measure 6 1/2 to 7 feet long and 5/8 inch wide. These also are an ideal length if you’re riding in a snaffle, sidepull, sliding gag, or German martingale. They are long enough to have plenty of rein to work with but they won’t drag the ground or get in your way on those colts and horses that are under 14.2 hands.
Crafting: This tight fibered harness leather will last for years of hard use. They are hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled and hand rubbed again for a great feel before they are shipped to you. If you have any questions please feel free to call and we’ll “talk reins”. Dennis 817-312-5305
Braided Grass Hackamore Rein #CHR1
Description: If you’re looking for a hackamore rein that will really help you get a good turning response from your colts this is a good choice because it’s easy for a horse to feel the texture of this Braided Grass Hackamore Rein on its neck. This, in turn, helps colts understand neck reining cues. This hand braided grass rein is braided with a smooth solid-braid that’s 1 inch wide x 16 feet long. It doesn’t stretch and has been waxed to give it a longer life. Note that this rein can be a little scratchy on your hands.
This is a very useful rein to have when you’re training colts or tuning up older horses because this rein really helps your horses learn to respond to pressure. It’s high quality and will last.
Slobber Straps #ZL
Description: Slobber Straps will add extra weight to the bit end of your mecate. This weight causes a quicker release of the pressure on the mouth from the bit when the pull on the reins is released.
These are made of 2 inch x 5 1/2 inch (folded) racetrack harness leather, the most durable leather available. They have been edged, hand rubbed, oiled with Neatsfoot Oil and hand rubbed again. These straps are sold in pairs.
XX Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR3
Description: This is the biggest selling rein I make. The XX reins are just right for people who ride cutters or cow horses. These reins are hand made from heavy harness leather and are 7 to 7 1/2 feet long and 5/8 inch wide which gives you enough length to pitch your horse the slack when you lay your hand down. These are short enough to ride our little cutters with or ride with contact or tune on your horse when needed and heavy enough to show in.
Crafting: Heavy harness leather bridle reins are very special to me. Every effort is made to give you the best rein you have ever had. I work closely with the tannery to get only the finest dense, tight fibered leather available. I cut the reins in pairs, hand edge, hand rub, oil and hand rub them again for a great feel before I ship them to you. This tight fibered harness leather will last for years. Please feel free to call 817-312-5305 and we will “talk reins”.
