Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ Reins, Heavy Weight #BLL2
Description: I’ve worked closely with the same tannery for years to find a thicker hide just for these double and stitched reins. Two pieces of heavy (total of 24 oz.) latigo are tightly stitched together to make this rein 3/8” thick. They’re cut 5/8” wide and in your choice of two lengths; 7′ long and 7’9” long (see the dropdown to choose). I make the 7’9″ length for average size horses. The 7′ length works for those who are training the smaller cutting & cow horse colts and for ranch sorters who keep their horses really gathered up through continuous quick turns.
These are a very heavy rein that allows for superb contact with a horse’s face. My heavy weight latigo on latigo double & stitched reins are more pliable than the harness leather on latigo reins #HL58 but they aren’t too heavy or stiff. If properly cared for, they will last many years. Like all of my reins, they are hand edged and rubbed. The attention to detail and craftsmanship of these reins speaks for itself, I guarantee it. Dennis
These reins are shown on Nick Fury, ridden by Wade Meador. “These are the best feeling reins I’ve ever used” says Wade. ” They’ve got a lot of weight and they always give me real consistent communication with my horses. The signal response time with any pair of reins is critical and these are the best.” Wade Meador, 2020 NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman Finalist.

XXXX Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR1
Description: If you like a long heavy harness leather rein, this is the best of the best: 8 + feet long and 5/8 inch wide. Perfect for work, pleasure riding or showing. I understand horses, and I know what it’s like to ride a tall one. Shorter reins just don’t cut it. That’s why I developed the XXXX Rein. They are more than 8 feet long giving plenty of tail for riding taller horses.
Crafting: Heavy harness leather bridle reins are very special to me. Every effort is made to give you the best rein you have ever had. I work closely with the tannery to get only the finest dense, tight fibered leather available. I cut the reins in pairs, hand edge, hand rub, oil and hand rub them again for a great feel before I ship them to you. This tight fibered harness leather will take some time to break in but will last for years of hard use. Please feel free to call and we will “talk reins”.

Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ Reins, Medium Weight #BLL1
Description: I cut these doubled and stitched reins 5/8” wide. I make them in two lengths: 7′ for horses under 14.2 hands and 7’9” for horses over 14.2 (see dropdown for choices). These Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ medium weight reins have very good feel and body.
To make these reins I sew 2 pieces of latigo leather together with small, tight stitches. This makes the reins 9/32nd of an inch thick. All of the work is done by hand. I edge these reins by hand, rub them, oil them and rub them again.
How they work: This is my 43rd year making cowboy tack and I know which leather makes the best reins. I personally choose each hide I use to make sure you’ll have good even contact and communication with your horse. There are no gray signals with these reins.
These are my best selling doubled and stitched reins and are a favorite in the show ring. They will hold their flexibility and shape even in cold weather and they are built to last.
Try a pair; it will be the best pair of doubled and stitched reins you have owned, I guarantee it. Dennis

DM Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR6
Description: I recommend these reins if you are riding colts or other small horses. These heavy harness leather reins measure 6 1/2 to 7 feet long and 5/8 inch wide. These also are an ideal length if you’re riding in a snaffle, sidepull, sliding gag, or German martingale. They are long enough to have plenty of rein to work with but they won’t drag the ground or get in your way on those colts and horses that are under 14.2 hands.
Crafting: This tight fibered harness leather will last for years of hard use. They are hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled and hand rubbed again for a great feel before they are shipped to you. If you have any questions please feel free to call and we’ll “talk reins”. Dennis 817-312-5305
