Five Plait Nylon Hackamore Rein #CHR2
Description: This Texas Style 5 plait hackamore rein is made of very tightly braided, 1/4 inch, solid braid nylon rope. It’s 16 feet long with rawhide ring knots at each end. This rope has been heavily waxed to give it more body and stiffness. This is the ideal rein for the horseman who wants a thicker rein in his or her hand with virtually no stretch.
Flat Nylon Split Reins #DSB3
Description: These split reins have a very soft feel. They are made of brown 1 inch braided nylon. The reins are 8 feet long with 3/4 inch leather poppers at ends. This is a great rein for riding a tall colt in the snaffle, generally one that is 14.2 or taller. Also easy on the hands for all day work.
X Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR4
Description: Not everyone likes heavier reins, so I cut these X reins out of a lighter-weight hide. These reins average 7 to 7 1/2 feet in length, 5/8 of an inch wide. The attention to detail is still here, but offered in a lighter-weight version. These are ideal for ranchers who want to ride with a lighter rein than the XX. On a cold winter day, these reins will still be supple if you’re checking cows in the cold.
Crafting: These are cut in pairs from the best hides, hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled and hand rubbed again for a great feel before the reins are shipped to you. This tight fibered harness leather will last for years of hard use. If you have any questions please feel free to call 817-312-5305 and we will “talk reins”.
Round Nylon Hackamore Rein #CHR6
Description: This rein has a really good feel in the hands, so nice in fact this is a great rein for long days in the saddle. The Round Nylon Hackamore Rein is made of 5/8 inch braid on braid nylon, 16 feet long, with 5/8 inch leather poppers at each end. This is a high quality rein at a very reasonable price. This rein comes in two color choices: Brown and tri-color.
Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ Reins, Medium Weight #BLL1
Description: I cut these doubled and stitched reins 5/8” wide. I make them in two lengths: 7′ for horses under 14.2 hands and 7’9” for horses over 14.2 (see dropdown for choices). These Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ medium weight reins have very good feel and body.
To make these reins I sew 2 pieces of latigo leather together with small, tight stitches. This makes the reins 9/32nd of an inch thick. All of the work is done by hand. I edge these reins by hand, rub them, oil them and rub them again.
How they work: This is my 42nd year making cowboy tack and I know which leather makes the best reins. I personally choose each hide I use to make sure you’ll have good even contact and communication with your horse. There are no gray signals with these reins.
These are my best selling doubled and stitched reins and are a favorite in the show ring. They will hold their flexibility and shape even in cold weather and they are built to last.
Try a pair; it will be the best pair of doubled and stitched reins you have owned, I guarantee it. Dennis
Long X Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR5
Description: Cowboys tell me these reins have a great feel to use one-handed riding across the pasture. This is a longer version of the X reins, averaging 7 1/2 to over 8 feet in length and 5/8 inch wide. These reins offer the flexibility of a longer rein without the added weight of the XX, XXX or XXXX reins.
Crafting: These are cut in pairs from the best hides, hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled and hand rubbed again for a great feel before the reins are shipped to you. This tight fibered harness leather will last for years of hard use. These are stamped X on the ends, just like the Dennis Moreland X Reins, the difference is in the length. If you have any questions please feel free to call and we will “talk reins”.
